Our MILK Scholar Committee

The first MILK scholars meeting in our post-pandemic world in living with Covid-19. A selected group of scholars/ex-scholars were invited to MILK Scholar roundtable with Mr Mah Bow Tan, accompanied by Dr Sheryn Mah. Through this meeting, we got to learn some important life lessons from both Mr and Mrs Mah and the vision to build a MILK scholar ecosystem whereby all MILK recipients (current/past) can rely on each of our strengths and excel in life despite our financial situation With this vision in mind, our MILK scholar Exco (comprised of an initial 11 current/past scholars) was formed together with the guidance of Lillie and Suraj. 

To ensure we can build a strong foundation in our MILK ecosystem, the committee decided to execute our plans in 3 phases; Brainstorming, Planning and Implementation phase. In our 1 year plan, brainstorming and planning is the focus in the next 6 months and the remaining 6 months will be on the implementation phase.

We started our first meeting in Aug’22 and the purpose of the meeting was to brainstorm various activities that could bring MILK scholars together. This was done through categorizing the activities into groups (Scholars interaction/ Programs/ Fundraising/ Marketing/ Volunteering) and got our members to present their ideas so we could estimate on the resources needed for the next 2 phases and what our focus point should be in our planning phase. 

Christmas Gathering and envisioning for 2023

18th December 2022 - The committee had the 2nd quarterly meeting for the year, held at a cozy office space at City Gates complemented with delightful snacks. The goal of this meeting was to introduce new members to the team, share new mission, vision and focus for 2023 and celebrate Christmas together. As we head into 2023, we share with the team on the shift from 5 pillars of focus (Marketing, Fundraising, Interview, Bonding and Programs) to 2 pillars of focus (Marketing and Interview), pivoting the core team to go deeper into these buckets. We observed that both Interview and Marketing pillar have great synergy, Interview Pillar will be the core and main enabler of content for Marketing. And with that, Marketing Pillar will focus on media outreach via Social Media Channels (Instagram, Tik Tok, LinkedIn) and Marketing tools (Emails). The team brainstormed on ideas for content generation during this session and concluded on starting content from within with Scholars of the week. As we build this process together, we hope to feature not just the exco, but also new, existing, graduated scholars and board members to showcase their story and aspirations. And with that, we aim to combine all social media channels to giving.sg to continue fund raising for the MILK Fund.

We ended the meeting with a Secret Santa Gift exchange and a Team Christmas photo!
