Selfie's with Seniors

Kok J Q is our MILK ITE Scholar currently pursuing a Higher Nitec in IT Applications Development at ITE College Central. Kok hopes to progress to Polytechnic and continue developing his competencies. All MILK Scholars are encouraged to participate in a meaningful community service activity of their choice and interest. Below is Kok’s reflection after caring for seniors.

I joined a community service event to teach the elderly how to take selfies and make it better.

I went with my friend and teacher to Thye Hua Kwan(THK) Senior Activity Centre to talk to the elderly and also teach them how to take and edit selfies using a mobile app called BeautyCam.

While I teaching an uncle how to take selfies, we kept talking about his interest, habits, and his past. He was very happy to talk about it. So I listen and comment and compliment him like saying he is handsome.

After we finish editing the photo we have compete in a competition to see which elderly edited photos are the best. Even though we didn't win, he did not mind.

What was more important was that he was enjoying this event and it make me proud to have participated in this event.
