Harmony in Partnership: A special Mid-Autumn Festival

Lillie Ngiow is MILK Fund’s Programme Manager. Having served at MILK for over 14 years, she has consistently and passionately lived out the vision to ensure ‘No Child Is Left Behind’. This is a short reflection written by Lillie after our recent onboarding of MILK ITE Scholars.

Looking back on the beautiful moments of last month's Mid-Autumn Festival, I can't help but be filled with nostalgia and gratitude. Our MILK ITE Scholarship Onboarding was made extra special with the generous contribution of delectable Halal Mooncakes from Fullerton Hotel.

We extended this celebration across all three ITE colleges, spreading good wishes and nurturing the value of sharing among our beneficiary students. Witnessing the students share these heartfelt gestures with their loved ones truly exemplifies the spirit of togetherness and friendship. Special thanks to Fullerton Hotel for providing us with this unique opportunity to co-create an experience that will remain etched in the hearts and minds of our students.

Together with Fullerton Hotel, we were able to extend the joy of sharing with our new batch of MILK ITE Scholars. The celebration was a vibrant reminder of the joyous traditions that have shaped my upbringing and continue to inspire the work we do at the MILK Programmes.

Our journey with the MILK Programmes has been one of remarkable growth and impact. Since its inception in 2010 and 2012, the MILK Scholarship and MILK Bursary have continued to provide unwavering financial support to students to meet the most pressing of needs. The unique approach of working with our institution and Family Service Centre (FSC) partners has allowed us to uplift and transform the lives of countless individuals, helping them navigate the challenges of education and family responsibilities.

Expanding our support to ITE in 2021 has been a significant milestone, with currently over 1000 students benefiting from our partnership with ITE HQ and our MEF partners. By alleviating their financial burdens, we aim to create an environment where students can focus on their studies and excel, bridging the gap between education and socioeconomic challenges.

The success stories of our MILK Scholars are a testament to their perseverance and the unwavering support of the community. From their graduation to gainful employment, each individual's journey is an inspiration in itself. I take immense pride in the accomplishments of many that I have come to know over the last 15 years. Their achievements reflect the core values of accountability and responsibility that define the essence of the MILK Scholarship.

Looking ahead, I am heartened that we remain committed to further enhancing our programmes and fostering deeper engagement with our scholars. From organizing interactive workshops to hosting insightful dialogues, we strive to create a supportive community that nurtures and recognizes the achievements of our students.

With the dedication of our team and the support from our partners, I am confident that our programmes will continue to soar to greater heights, making a lasting impact on the lives of our MILK Scholars. Together, we can create a brighter future for generations to come.
